A bold, new waterproof digital camera jumped into the swimming pool recently. PENTAX Imaging Company announced the Optio WS80, the newest contender in the durable, affordable digital camera category.
Available in two bold, his-and-her’s designs, the water and dustproof Optio WS80 is a perfect choice for travel, outdoor activities and families. Featuring a 10 megapixel CCD and a 5X internal optical zoom housed in a slim, palm-sized body that is less than an inch thick, the Optio WS80 has a large 2.7 inch LCD with 230,000 dot resolution for easy composition. With waterproof construction that can withstand depths up to five feet (1.5 meters), the Optio WS80 captures underwater photos and video including high resolution, widescreen, HD video up to 720p at a full-speed 30 frames per second. Other features include:
• Fast Face Detection technology sees up to 32 faces in as little as 0.03 of a second for easy portrait photography.
• Smile Capture automatically releases the shutter when a subject smiles and Blink Detection alerts the photographer if the subject’s eyes are closed during the exposure.
• PENTAX Shake Reduction (SR) technology features Pixel Track SR, Digital SR, and Movie SR, stabilizing your images and video for beautiful, blur-free results.
• PENTAX Auto Picture mode automatically selects from eight shooting modes for beautiful images in any setting.
• Sensitivity up to ISO 6400 boosts shutter speeds to freeze subject movement for blur-free images even in low lighting.
This camera takes amazing pictures. The photos are clear and crisp and the color is absolutely vivid.I purchased this particular camera because it was given a great review by Consumer Reports, and they were right!I am extremely pleased with my new Canon Poweshot SD 1200. It’s everything you need in a digital camera.

The Flips are the best buy for your money. Often they excel the camcorder and are far more convenient.I make wedding dVD’s and these work great but the UltraHD 120 minute recorder is the best of them all.We use this on the Mac so we don’t have knowledge of it’s use on a pC but I am certain it is just as easy. 1. The software–NO CD for the landfill!! —you plug the flip into the computer and it asks you to install from the computer.2. you can do basic editing and upload to You Tube from the app. 3.I chose to use the Iphoto/I movie on my Mac. The new ultraHD uses H.264 codec and you can move the video off from the flip and into Iphoto or Imovie without having to convert or needing special codecs.4.You can use your own software or theirs( theirs is very good)5. The ultraHD is a bit bigger than other flips but compensates WAY above and beyond the call of duty. a.Replacables batteries as well as it’s rechargeables battery.Great for when you run out at a party, you can pop in AA’s and film on. b.It has HDMI out. No More 4.3 on your HDTV.Plug the HDMI into TV and play straight from the flip, 16 by 9 for the whole widesceen viewing!!!For people like me, this is easy to use , easy to view, easy to carry and more simple than a camcorder of the traditional vein. It is soo easily portable , you can carry in purse or a pocket.LOVE IT !!!
